Non-Registered GICs

A

s a financial professional, you know that while investing in stocks and mutual funds has great potential, there is also additional risk associated with investments that are prone to market fluctuations. GICs, on the other hand, are a more stable and guaranteed investment vehicle and that’s why they’re considered part of a well-balanced portfolio.

B2B Trust offers a full suite of non-registered GIC products. To assess what’s best for your clients, we encourage you to take a few minutes to review the following information.

Company & products

  • B2B Trust: GIC, Cashable GIC, ActionGIC (when available)

Accounts

Individual, Tenants in Common, Joint, Joint Tenants with Right of Survivorship, Corporate/Non-Corporate Business Entities

Terms & amounts

  • Short-term deposits
    30 to 89 days, minimum amount: $25,000 
    90 to 364 days, minimum amount: $5,000
  • Long-term deposits: 
    1 to 5 years, minimum amount: $1,0001

(Note: with the exception of our Cashable GIC, terms are non-redeemable)

Interest payments

Interest may be paid annually, semi-annually, quarterly or monthly; compounded or paid annually until maturity (simple interest only for terms less than 2 years)

Rate guarantees

For funds sent by mail: the rate in effect when your client signs their GIC application will be guaranteed if the application and funds are received by B2B Trust within 5 business days

For funds deposited directly: the teller stamp date will determine the interest rate and date of sale

Method of payment

Interest payments can be deposited electronically into your client’s Canadian bank account or they can be forwarded directly to you or your client.
