Our History
B2B Trust is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Laurentian Bank of Canada and the result of a corporate merger and two acquisitions. It all started with the amalgamation of Sun Life Trust Company and Counsel Trust Company on January 1, 1991. The resulting company was acquired by Laurentian Bank from Sun Life Trust Company on March 1, 2000. During this same period, Laurentian Bank acquired both North American Trust (including personal and commercial portfolios) and North American Trust’s Agency Banking unit. The emerging organization was substantially restructured to align corporate objectives and realize core business strategies. It was relaunched as B2B Trust on July 1, 2000. Today, the company has head offices located in the heart of Toronto’s financial district and regional representation from coast to coast.
